What we do

The Chicago Laundromat Directory catalogs self-service laundromats, coin laundries, wash & fold providers, and laundry pickup & delivery services throughout Chicago, Illinois. Each neighborhood page lists locations with addresses, phone numbers, posted hours, payment options, machine sizes, and on-site amenities so you can choose before you load the car.

Why we built this

Roughly a third of Chicago households do laundry outside the home, either because their building has no in-unit hookups or because a shared basement machine cannot handle bedding. The information those residents need — machine sizes, payment methods, attendant hours, parking, and whether a store actually does wash-and-fold — is scattered across map pins, storefront signs, and out-of-date phone listings. This directory exists to put it in one place, neighborhood by neighborhood, with plain-language guides for the questions that come up around price, timing, and bulky items.

How we research listings

• Business details are compiled from public business listings, mapping data, and business websites, then normalised into a single format so neighborhoods can be compared.
• Every listing is checked for a working address, a plausible business type, and a service mix consistent with what the location publicly advertises.
• Amenity notes are labelled as either reported for that location or typical for that store format, so you always know which is which.
• Star ratings on listing pages come only from visitors who leave a review directly on this site. We do not display or average third-party scores.
• Hours and prices change often, especially seasonally, so each page asks you to confirm with the business before travelling.
• We correct or remove a listing promptly when an owner, manager, or reader tells us something is wrong.

How our guides are written

Our long-form articles are written for Chicago specifically: local price ranges rather than national averages, the winter road-salt problem, permit parking and overnight bans, building laundry rules common in local rentals, and the machine sizes actually installed in city stores. Price figures are presented as observed ranges rather than fixed rates, because rates differ block to block and are adjusted regularly.

What we do not do

• We do not invent reviews, ratings, testimonials, or awards.
• We do not sell placement, ranking, or review removal.
• We do not publish personal data about staff or customers.
• We do not claim to be affiliated with any laundromat we list.

Editorial independence

Listings are not for sale. A business cannot pay to be included, to be ranked higher, or to have a review removed. Where we earn revenue, we disclose it on our advertising disclosure page.
