How we research and maintain laundromat listings

What our listing data is, where it comes from, and the limits of what we can tell you.

Where listing data comes from

Compiled from publicly available Chicago business listings (name, address, phone, website, business category).

For each location we hold a business name, any alternate name, a street address, a neighborhood, a phone number and website where one is published, and a business category such as “coin-operated laundromat” or “dry cleaner”. That is the full extent of the data behind a listing page.

Our records were last reviewed as a set on 2026-09-20.

What we do not publish

We do not visit these businesses, and we do not publish details we cannot support. That means no opening hours, no prices, no machine counts or capacities, and no claims about Wi-Fi, restrooms, seating, parking, cleanliness, staffing or how busy a location gets.

Earlier versions of this site generated descriptions, pros-and-cons summaries and amenity lists automatically from a business's category. Those were not based on evidence about each named business, so they have been removed. Listing pages now show only recorded facts, with anything unconfirmed labelled as such.

How we label information

  • Verified — checked against an identifiable source. We apply this only where a check has genuinely been made.
  • Business-reported — supplied by the business or an authorised representative and accepted after review.
  • Not independently confirmed — present in our compiled records but not checked by us. Most listing fields are in this state.
  • Not confirmed — we hold no reliable information at all.

Photographs

Where we hold a photograph of a business, the caption says so. Where we do not, the page shows a clearly labelled generic illustration of laundry machines and says that it is not a photograph of that business. We never present an illustration as a photo of a named location.

Reviews and ratings

The only reviews and star ratings on this site are those submitted by visitors directly through the form on a listing page. We do not import, copy or republish reviews or ratings from Google, Yelp or any other platform, and we do not generate review summaries.

Visitor submissions are published as written and are unverified — we cannot confirm that a reviewer visited the business. Where a listing has no submissions, the page says that no reviews have been submitted yet rather than filling the space.

Guides and articles

Our guides explain how laundry pricing, machine sizes, payment systems and service types work in practice. They are written from publicly documented information, not from first-hand visits, interviews or original research, and we do not claim otherwise. Where an article uses a price to illustrate a calculation, it is labelled as an example rather than a confirmed price at a named business.

Corrections and owner updates

Every listing page carries a “Report incorrect business information” link. Business owners can use the same route to ask for an update. Submitted changes are reviewed before anything on a public page changes, and ownership claims are not accepted automatically.

Report an error or request an update.

Limits you should know about

A directory built on public business records will always lag reality: laundromats close, change hands, change hours and change prices without notice. Treat a listing as a starting point and confirm anything that matters with a phone call before you travel.
