How to get the numbers right
- Machine prices are set store by store and by drum size — a 20lb washer and a 60lb washer at the same location carry different prices.
- Dryers are usually sold in timed blocks, so count the blocks you actually need rather than one per load.
- A high spin cycle leaves less water in the load, which normally cuts the drying time you pay for.
- If you are comparing self-service against wash-and-fold, price wash-and-fold by the pound and weigh a typical load at home first.
